Steve Leveen is the co-founder and CEO of Levenger, known for its catalog of "tools for serious readers." Levenger (an amalgam of Leveen and his wife's last name, Granger), started out as a purveyor of state-of-the-art halogen book reading lights and grew to become a highly successful Internet and retail company, touting tools for serious readers, writers and thinkers. Today, Levenger is a multimillion dollar company with 225 employees and stores in Delray Beach, Fla., Boston and Chicago. The Levenger catalog is distributed to 24 million households annually. Prior to starting Levenger with his wife in 1987, Leveen worked in marketing for a software firm in Boston, as a survey researcher for a firm in Washington, D.C. and as a journalist for McGraw-Hill in New York City. Steve Leveen holds a B.A. in Biology from University of California, San Diego and a Master's in PhD in Sociology from Cornell University.
