David McElroy has been the Vice President of Operations and Business Development for Verdia since its formation in March 2002. In addition, McElroy is an Adjunct Professor with the Department of Plant Breeding at Cornell University.
McElroy formerly served as Vice President of Research and Development for Maxygen's agricultural business. Prior to joining Maxygen, McElroy was Product Development Manager at Dekalb Genetics Corporation, where he managed the development and commercial introduction of transgenic corn products with insect and herbicide resistance.
McElroy was a Fulbright Scholar to Cornell University, where he received his Ph.D. in 1991. He completed an Advanced Management Program at London Business School in 2000 and an Executive Program in Management and Technology at MIT Sloan School of Management in 1999.
