Kanpur in early 1970's, Dr. Rajvanshi went to USA to pursue a Ph.D. degree in the University of Florida at Gainesville, U.S.A. He received his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering in 1979 with specialization in solar energy and then taught at the University of Florida for two and half years before returning to India in 1981 to join NARI.
